She stayed in Hisaronu, I think at the Ata Hotel, I don't think she was that impressed with the hotel, but the wedding itself was brilliant, she was married on a private beach in the lagoon area.
I will try and find out today from her who she went through to arrange the wedding, and maybe even persuade her experiences.

Hiya Tracey, its Mandy I understand Sharen has been filling you in on my wedding day. Go for it, I got married on the club sun city private beach on the blue lagoon last July and it was fantastic. The scenery and setting was perfect the photos were brilliant and the actual wedding service was really nice so romantic and you certainly have the gorgeous weather too. I would really adise you go through a tour operator tho, we went to hisaronu the year before to get some help and ideas and still come home clueless. We booked through first choice weddings, they have their own brochure and are very informative and detailed. We booked the wedding and holiday together as a package then sat back and waited for instructions on paperwork later in the year whilst trying on wedding dresses!! We did feel a little bit in the dark and nervous about the whole thing before we arrived but as soon as we arrived we had a meeting with our wedding coordinator and she soon made us feel comfortable and sure the day would go ahead with no problems and it did. It was fantastic no problems, every last detail was catered for obviously at a cost but what do you expect, the flowers and the car was beautiful and they even arranged the reception afterwards. The basic package to marry on the lagoon is about £499 this included the service, some flowers, buttonhole, cake and champayne for upto 8 guests and a car for you and the groom. Hope this helps a little if you would like any more details please ask. I would recommend it to anyone.

sorry forgot to stay if you book through first choice you can stay at a number of hotels within olu deniz or Hisaronu. wouldn't recommend pine hills hotel in hisaronu tho, I was put in a room on the top floor and had about 6 flights of steps to come down in my wedding dress, I can't complain about the room tho it was very nice but didn't really think much to some of the guys working there not as friendly as other places.

Hi,
i am a new member and I love Turkey. I have been there 4 times in the last two years and have only ever stayed at Olu Deniz. I love it so much I keep going back, so much in fact me and my fiance are getting married there in May. ;D
Its possible to get married in one of the hotels but we have chosen to go through an agent who do all the arranging for you and we'll get married on the Lagoon or Suara beach at sunset. Its the most romantic destination (when its quiet). I can't wait. ;D

Hi Mandy,
Pleased to hear your wedding went so well. I know what you mean about feeling in the dark, its odd to pay the money and then to have nothing to do, although it beats the stress of a british wedding.
Can you tell me about your trip to the Consulate - how did you get there? was it inclusive in the price of your wedding? how many days before the wedding did you arirve in resort? etc..
???sorry for all the questions, I just like to feel like i know whats happening. I was shocked when we were told the Consulate was at least a 6 hour drive away.

Hi Shameen The trip to the british consulate was a complete nightmare and waste of time but unfortunatley it had to be done. It was all arranged through first choice, we had to pay £100 for the taxi to be taken then I think it was £95 each for our documents to be checked. You can take english money for the taxi but the other must be in turkish lira. We were picked up from our hotel at about 7.30am and arrived back about 3pm it was awful and the driver didn't speak much english so it was a very long boring trip, i feel this is the only improvement that can be made and that really it could have been all done before we arrived. We were in hisaronu about 8 days before our wedding day which was good, cos their was plenty of time to get a nice tan and organise hen nights, stag nights etc.

Hi Mandy Shameen and Sharen
It's good to hear from someone who's been there and done it!! And someone who's also looking foward to getting married in Turkey.
I've booked with Thomas Cook yesterday to stay in Side the Paloma Perissia hotel, mainly becuse the hotel there seemed to have something for everyone in our party, although I did love the idea of a Blue Lagoon wedding. Have you any pics you can post on here?
Mandy, did you go for the traditional dress? what time of year did you go? How did you get the bruises?? (or shouldn't I ask?)
Have you got your dress yet Shameen?
Tracey x

First of all thanks Sharen for reminding me i still have a lump on my back after 3 months, these bruises were self inflicted try to avoid the vodka and cherry juice and most of all the KIRBS on the road and into the toilets it was very amusing but very painful the day after especially the wedding night. I went for the traditional ivory dress with a shortish train. I chose chiffon tho cos its a lighter material and easier to transport the creases just drop out. It was beginning of July I got married it was in the 40's so quite hot, but the breeze coming off the sea was lovely. My mum kept telling me to just go for something light and plain (possibly like a bridesmaid dress) but i said no way im doing it properly and i have no regrets I was just right as i went for a strappless dress, the men were feeling the heat tho in waistcoats and ties.

Hi, Unfortunately i've had to cancel my wedding in Turkey. My fiance's father has recently had a heart attack and we are worried about him travelling too far so have decided instead to hold the wedding near our home in the Lake District. I think family are a big factor to take into account before booking abroad. I didn't consider how difficult it could work out what with one thing and another. However I am sure we will honeymoon in Olu Deniz, although the lakes are beautiful the weather leaves a lot to be desired. It also means now i can choose a bigger dress rather than the lighter bridesmaid dress i was opting for. ;D The trip to the Consulate sounds as bad as i thought it would so i suppose its a relief i don't have to do that now. Best of luck Tracey for your forthcoming wedding.

At least you can get married in the lake district, still a lovely place. Our local town is not so picturesque!
Seen some fab dresses on e bay - don't know whether you'd buy from there on not for your special day?

Sorry to hear about your father in law to be shameen, hope hes ok now. Im sure you will have a brilliant day where ever it is held, the lake district sounds really nice. Definately go for that big dress, i would have done if I had it in England. I looked a lot on ebay for dresses but thought it might have been a bit risky least in a shop you can try them on and see what your paying for its worth spending that bit extra.
