Fingernail Health
Fingernail health will keep you from suffering from some painful tissue conditions. Get those long fingernails you've always wanted, it isn't too difficult if you take some simple precautions.
Long fingernails have been the envy of women for ages and research is still being done today to find a way to create the perfect nail tonic that will turn dry, cracked and brittle nails into long, strong beauties in two weeks or less. As of right now, there are no real miracle applications to make this happen or wed all be running around with three inch nails asking the guys to pick things up for us and open our soda cans. There are, however, a few ways you can build up the strength of your nails, get them to grow a bit and maybe keep them from splitting or breaking so easily.
One of the natural enemies of fingernails is water. Water softens up the fingernails and makes them prime target for disaster. Couple water with a vigorous activity such as cleaning, scrubbing, scraping, washing dishes, doing laundry, etc. and you may as well kiss your nails goodbye. When you clean, wear rubber gloves no matter what. Even if your task will only take a minute or two, don those gloves. Rubber gloves keep your nails dry and they protect them from activities that normally cause nail breakage, like taking wet laundry from the washing machine.
At night, you can condition your nails while you sleep. Get some white cotton gloves and before you go to bed, slather on a generous amount of hand cream and put the gloves on over it. This well help condition your nails to make them more flexible and as an added bonus, your hands will be baby soft!
What you put inside your body can be just as important as what you do to the outside of it. If you want to have good strong nails, you have to be sure you are getting good nutrition. Calcium is a necessary nutrient for strong fingernails and you need plenty of vitamin D to help your body absorb it. When women are pregnant the often find their nails growing better than ever before, this is because of the bodies increased ability to absorb nutrients during this time.
Finally, never bite your nails and do not use them as tools. Nails can be great for picking off stickers, etc. but if you use them like letter openers, they are going to disappear faster than you can grow them.

Skin can certainly benefit from from natural products, but don't forget hair. Hair products cost a lot, and we are always tempted by new, laboratory-tested brands in new bottles. Home remedies to dandruff
Dandruff is a common problem. You can fall victim to excessive dandruff at any age. 97% of Americans suffer from dandruff at some time. One out of every two persons in the world have problem with dandruff.
Common practice is to treat dandruff with anti-dandruff shampoos. But did you know that you can use simple effective home remedies to treat dandruff? Home remedies to dandruff may offer complete solutions for controlling dandruff.
One of the best ways to control dandruff is to apply a mixture of vinegar and water on the scalp. Make a mixture of 2 teasthingys of vinegar and 6 teasthingys of water and apply it on the scalp before you go to bed. Keep it for the whole night with a towel around the head. Rinse your head with vinegar water again in the morning. If you continue to treat your hair with it for few months, it will serve your purpose.
You can also use a mixture of 1 teasthingy of lemon juice and 2-teasthingys of vinegar. Massage the scalp with this solution. After the massage, treat your hair with an egg shampoo.
You can rub a combination of 1 part sulfur powder, 2 parts surgical spirit, 1 part almond oil and 4 parts rose water or distilled water on your scalp to keep dandruff at bay. Or:
Boil a mixture of 4-5 dried thyme and two cups of water for 10 minutes. When the mixture cools down, massage it on the scalp and leave it for half an hour. Wash it afterwards and see the results. You will have a dandruff-free head.
You can also soak ground fenugreek seeds overnight in water and massage the paste on the head, leaving it for a few minutes. Wash it afterwards using a mild shampoo.
You can also prepare a homemade mixture of 1 tablesthingy fresh lemon juice with 100 grams witch hazel in 200ml of water and use it on washed hair. Applying the mixture several times is helpful in warding off the problem of dandruff.
If you wash your hair with warm apple cider vinegar, leaving it for 30-40 minutes and then rinsing it with plain water, you are sure to control dandruff positively. You have to continue this process regularly to stop its return. The smell of the vinegar does evaporate!
Try a mixture of olive oil and almond oil. Massage your scalp with the mixture and leave it for five minutes after you feel the burning sensation. Rinse properly and you should have a dandruff-free head.
Did you know the well-known pain killer aspirin, used for relieving aches, can serve you equally effectively to eliminate the problem of dandruff? Just crush and powder two aspirin tablets and add it to your shampoo. Leave the mixture on your scalp for two minutes. Rinse and wash properly to remove the aspirin particles completely from the scalp.
You can directly use Aloe Vera gel to remove excess dandruff. Apply the gel on your scalp 10-15 minutes before you plan to wash your hair. Regular use of the gel before shampooing will keep down the growth of dandruff.
These remedies take time to show a visible change but are effective for some people.
The best point concerning a home remedy is that you have many options and, if you think that a particular ingredient does not suit you, you can try an alternative. You should give each remedy at least a week before trying another.

Hair Growth
Several different vitamin or mineral deficiencies can cause dry hair. To treatment dry hair, try taking a multivitamin with 100 percent of the daily value of the essential vitamins. A multivitamin and mineral combination may provide some added coverage for possible deficiencies. It's been shown that too little biotin and pantothenic acid (both B-complex vitamins) can lead to dry hair. Shampoos and hair care products commonly contain pantothenic acid (or pantothenol). But evidence supporting the benefits of pantothenic acid for dry hair and hair loss is very weak. Also, some people with hair loss do show low blood levels of biotin. While the evidence isn't strong, it may be worth it to try taking supplements of biotin and pantothenic acid for bothersome hair conditions that are not helped by hair treatment products. Iron and Zinc also affect hair growth. Iron is an important trace mineral that is found in every cell of the body, including hair, usually combined with protein. Zinc is an essential mineral that is found in almost every cell, including our hair. It stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes, which are substances that promote biochemical reactions in your body. Zinc supports a healthy immune system, is needed for wound healing, helps maintain your sense of taste and smell, and is needed for DNA synthesis. Eat right and you will glow from head to toe

Natural Hair Care
Natural hair care that can be done in the privacy of your own home for a fraction of the cost of salon treatments.
Many men and women spend tons of money in beauty salons for simple things they can do at home with a little time and research. The benefits are not only the money saved but also the convenience and privacy of doing it in your own home. However, the idea of home beauty care conjures up images for some of Lucy Ricardo in the episode where she wrecks her hair before her big night out.
First is eyebrow or mustache waxing. I recommend getting a buddy to help with this one. Depilatory wax is sold over the counter at any drug store and can be heated in a crock-pot filled with water or in the microwave. Just be sure to test on your finger before applying to the skin around your eye. The wax should be very warm, not hot. Apply the wax to the unwanted hair, then apply a strip of cheesecloth over it and gently press. Wait a few moments for the wax to harden then quickly remove the strip. Pulling too slowly causes unnecessary discomfort.
Second is conditioning treatments. You can get the packets or containers of cholesterol or deep conditioning formulas at beauty supply stores or use warm (not hot) olive oil. Apply the conditioner of your choice, and then wrap in a warm towel that you can heat in the microwave (again test for heat before applying). Leave on while you relax or have a cup of coffee and then wash or rinse your hair (if you use the oil you may want to shampoo). This will give you shiny renewed hair for pennies a treatment.
Next are highlights. If you are going for an all out color change, going to a salon would be preferable unless you know what you are doing, but its easy to add a glossy sheen to hair that has not been colored. Simply buy an over the counter highlight or hair painting kit, which comes with full instructions and an applicator brush. Or if you just want to add some shine, mix up a batch of lemon juice, apply and go sit out on your patio in the sun for a while.
If you like long, stylish nails you would do well to learn to do them yourself to save tons of money in professional maintenance.
Facials can also be done using ingredients from the fridge. Try an mashed avacodo mask to moisturize, egg white to decrease oil and cucumbers to refresh tired eyes.
Last, but most importantly is style. Armed with as supply of hot rollers and some styling gel, you can create a variety of looks. If you have a roommate, or a hairstyle buddy, you can try looks like the French braid or cornrows on each other. If your hair is short, add some volume with a few small rollers or spike it up a little with some gel. Add accents like beads and barrettes that you can purchase at the local dollar store and you have a multitude of possibilities. Books on hair styling can be found at the library or local books store. Have a styling party and invite friends over to lend their expertise. The more ideas you share, the more possibilities you have for your home salon.

Mayonaise kills lice!!! Think I'd rather have the lice! I hate mayo with a passion, just the word makes me heave. We had a pasta salad (well the children did the other pm) with mayo and I couldn't scrape the plates. But other girls are very good and did it for me, I gave out the juice instead. The thought of clawping it on your head..........................oh where's the bucket
