Make your own flexible ice packs. Pour 3/4 cup water and 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol into a zip-type plastic bag and close. Put zipped bag into another bag, seal, and freeze. You will have a slushy bag of ice whenever needed for sprains, headaches, or whatever.

Instead of purchasing a tube of Chap Stick pay the same price for a container of petroleum jelly, and divide it into small containers to carry with you to use for chapped lips.

Hair care
Adding a red tone to your hair. Boil some onion skins (ordinary brown onions) in water, strain when cool. Add to final rinse, leave hair in the solution for a few moments and dry as normal. The result will not be instant, but should show after using it 2 or 3 times.
Shiny hair
When washing hair add to final rinse 1 or 2 tablesthingys of vinegar. Dry in normal way.
Want to keep hair blond
Brew 2 bags or 2 tablesthingys of chamomile tea, strain and add it to your final rinse. Result will not be instant, but after a few weeks you will notice some difference.
Want to make hair go blond
Squeeze 1 lemon and brush juice into hair and let dry in sun. You can do streaks and give it the sun kissed look. Do not do it to often or hair will become too dry.
Hair tonic
Take 1 lb of stinging nettles and bring to boil in 1 pint of water. Leave to cool, strain. Rub it gently into scalp and shampoo as usual. It prevents dandruff and also hair loss.
Give hair body and shine:
Before final rinse, pour beer over hair, massage well in and give a final rinse.
Hair Conditioner:
I use mayonnaise to periodically condition my hair (do not use miracle whip-real mayonnaise only). Apply mayo to dry hair, work through thoroughly. Cover with plastic cap, wrap in warm towel and leave on for 20-30 minutes. Wash as usual. Leaves hair shiny and conditions it also.

Skincare
Clear skin Always drink plenty of water, at least 2 litres a day.
Skin toner
Instead of buying expensive skin toner, use Witch Hazel. Leaves skin refreshed without stinging.
Facemask for clear skin
Take fresh baking yeast and mix with warm milk into a thick paste. Apply to face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, than splash with cold. Will leave skin very soft and helps to control spots

Your face will look more "balanced" if the tones of your blusher match those of your lipstick. If you are wearing an ordinary medium weight or better still, a sheer lipstick, apply your lipstick before your blusher and use your fingertips to dap a little of the colour from your lips onto the apple of your cheek. Blend well! If the colour is too strong, dust a layer of powder over your cheeks. Remember to touch up your lipstick again afterwards. This does not work with strong colours or lip glosses

If you are going somewhere special and want to shrink the bags under your eyes use haemorrhoid cream, it really works - As I would imagine this cream has drying properties I am not sure how good it is for the delicate skin around the eyes - not to be used on a regular basis I wouldn't think! - If you have straight eyelashes that need a bit of a curve, heat your eyelash curlers with a hairdryer for a few seconds before using to curl your lashes.

When applying liquid makeup, wet face all over first. Then apply makeup. It will go on streak free and you have much more control over the colour that way. This way you don't have patches of makeup in placed you don't want it. Unruly eyebrows, rather than plucking, comb them with Vaseline and an eyebrow comb. This makes them thinner, neater and darker.

When using expensive creams or ointments from tubes, especially at the start, don't squeeze the tube. Just hold it in your hand and the warmth will cause the cream to expand out of the tube. This saves waste and will make the cream last a lot longer.

After you wash you face, rub an ice cube over it to close pores, then apply moisturiser. If you run out of shaving cream, you can also use conditioner to do the job For a really close shave, try Vaseline (not great for the razor, but it's worth it every once in a while. For puffy eyes, put 2 tablesthingys in the freezer to chill and then place over the eyes for a pick me
