Hi to all! My wife and I have been visiting Tyrkey for about the past 10 years. Last year we purchased a plot in Toparlar near Koycegiz, which in about 3 years we hope to build a villa on and retire to Turkey. If anyone lives in or near that location we would love to hear from you, Your experiences and general advice about the area, also anyone who has the experience of having already had a villa built. Kind regards, Eamonn.

Thank you all for your comments and a great welcome. We are over on July 17 for 2 weeks although we will be staying in Icmeler but will be visiting Koycegiz and Toparlar to look at the plot we bought. Hopefully nearer the time if some of you are out there we could meet up for a beer and a chat. The plot we bought is near to the new Mosque that is being built at the traffic lights on the main Dalaman to Marmaris road. If heading towards Marmaris at the traffic lights by the Mosque turn right and about 500/600 yards at a cross road is our plot. We have had a fence and gate put around the plot. Again many thanks for the welcome. Eamonn.

Hi juicyjude. We have visited Icmeler about 8 times now and never grow tired of it. It is a great place, unfortunately the land prices have gone up a lot over the last 2/3 years so we looked further afield for a plot. We liked the location of Toparlar as it is convenient for the highway and the bus to many locations, and it is very near Koycegiz which has an all year round market. Shame we will miss one another but who knows we might get over later in the year as well. Eamonn.

Hi eamonn. Hope your new villa build goes well. We have a new villa, slightly different situation. We bought it off plan from a developer and then watched it go up. I have lots more grey hairs now but love the final villa. We moved into it last July. Just wait until you sit on your terrace and sip that Efes it's a great feeling. Don't forget to take lots of progress photos and keep a diary.

Merhaba to one and all. Just returned from a week in Koycegiz. Great weather and met some really lovely people. Got taken out fishing for a day by a lovely Turkish family, also many thanks to Bulent who was a great help to us helping to solve a problem we had with our building plot. I can only say if you need a friend to help you while you are out there Bulent is your man. Now waiting for July when we go over to Turkey again. Eamonn. ;D
