Izmir to Gatwick 30 Euros by
British Airways have announced that their one-way flights between Izmir and London Gatwick have been reduced to 30 Euros, apparently with no hidden extras. According to BA this is part of new fare structure incentives between most of BA’s European destinations and Gatwick Airport.
The BA Commercial Manager for Turkey, Aysim Arda, has been reported as saying “This huge reduction in prices means that the Izmir-London route will be open to so many more people and will give them the chance to sample the style and service offered by British Airways.”
BA issued a press release saying “Customers can also make their bookings online from the comfort of their home or office through www.ba.com, which contains a host of other features to make traveling easier. www.ba.com is a revolutionary portal that is also a comprehensive travel guide, allowing customers to organize and update their bookings through the ‘Manage My Booking’ facility for every stage of their journey. They are able to specify particular seats and special meals after booking a flight via their own unique Web page. The website can be used to check travel plans, e-mail itineraries to friends or business colleagues, enter details before travelling, check in for flights, look at arrivals and departures information, and book hotels, cars and insurance online.”
The cheap flights are only available after 1 NOVEMBER 2006. We took a look at the site to see the cost of flying out from Izmir to Gatwick on 20 December returning on 8 January - always a time when prices are high. So we were suprised to see the basic ticket price was indeed €30 each way but a further €67 in tax was added bringing the price to €127 (£85). A very good price....now we just need to see if we can handle the trip to Izmir airport - a 6 hour journey from Fethiye.
So, maybe we now have an answer to the winter flights dilemma faced last year.
