HERE IS THEIR ADVERT:- British Airways franchise partner GB Airways is to launch direct scheduled flights to Dalaman in Turkey in May 2006. The airline will operate twice-weekly services, on Mondays and Fridays, from London Gatwick to the east coast of Turkey from May 1 until the end of October. I have booked the BA flights for October at a cost of £121 each. Found the flight cheaper with flights4less, although BA do make a price promise that they will match the price if you find it cheaper elsewhere. Tickets actually arrived in the post yesterday.

I also looked at those flights for the summer. I hope to go for 5 weeks and the prices quoted were considerably less than any charters I looked at. However there was one snag to consider. The return flight got in at just after midnight. On this occaision I won't be driving as I don't want to park for 5 weeks and coaches/trains to my area don't start again until about 5 am. I can't bear the thought of hanging around for that. So I've decided to use the local airport even though the flight is about £80 more. It just makes the whole thing easier. Really good for those of you who live nearer Gatwick though.

Thanks so much Bob for going to all that trouble. We have booked for next year, unfortunately, I am tied to school holidays and am unable to go any other time. Before I took this job on we used to go in June and September when it was a bit cooler and the children were still at school. It was also a lot cheaper, but now it's all different, and we have to pay premium prices during the school hols!!! I get quite cross about it really, the prices are really hiked up during the school hols, a lot of people feel the same. There I go again, Victor! By the way, it sounded then as if went on hol and left children. May I stress my child is 30 yrs old this year, and I don't have school children so I'm not a bad mother leaving them and going on holiday.Oh my word, getting carried away now, all because I don't think before I type. Well you know what I mean anyway. (Quick slurp of wine) ;DThanks once again Bob

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Easy Jet Sets Fierce Competition in Flights By Mustafa Gun, Istanbul Published: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 zaman.com Easy Jet, one of the world’s biggest low cost carrier companies, is preparing itself to enter the Turkish market. The British company conducting all tickets sales via the Internet will begin selling flights to Turkey in the upcoming months. Reportedly, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport controlled by the Defense Industry Undersecretary will be used as a destination for these flights. Easy Jet, with tickets starting from as low as 19 euro, flights from London to Athens sell for 50-55 euros, while London-Paris flights range from 16 or 42 euro. Jet Easy is well known in the sector for investing great deal of money for its flights at airports and terminating its rivals in the market. Experts in Turkey emphasize the threat this airline presents to Turkish Air Lines and private airline companies. The Airport Authority HEAS declared no definite agreement has been issued yet. According to the information released, an agreement has been reached on five daily flights in April, increasing to 15 as of July. The flights are expected to begin running as planned provided the problems and some details in the enterprise costs are solved. HEAS officials said negotiations with Easy Jet were positive and the officials persuaded the company to being conducting flights. Reporting they will gather once more following the Sacrifice Feast between January 10 and 14, the officials disclosed: “Easy Jet flies to 29 destinations in Europe. The flight network and substructure are strong. We requested that add flights to Turkish Airports as well and they give us the green light. The situation will be finalized within 10 days.” Airport officials developed several projects to increase profits for Istanbul’s second international airport, and declared they also conducted negotiations with the companies such as Ryan Air and charter firms from India under this frame. The most fundamental feature of Easy Jet is that it urges charter firms in the centers that it operates to withdraw from the market within a short time. When the company began operating flights to the French city of Lyon last year, nearly nine charter companies operating in this market were forced out of business. Easy Jet, one of the world’s highest performing airline companies conducting up to15 flights per day to some destinations, hopes to double the number of flights in the near future. The British company plans to begin with five flights per day to the Turkish market and hope to increase this figure to 50 in 2007
