Having just found this nice forum I noticed a plea for new members last october. If you still want one - i'm here! I have been a frequent visitor to Turkey for about the last 14 years. I have many lovely Turkish friends and have been learning the language for about 4 years.

You're more than welcome, so is your other half We do have a shortage of men though, so any Turkey-loving male friends you have would also be very welcome. I'm scared Bob may develop an interest in hair and nails unless we up the testosterone levels

I've never quite mastered the art of nail varnish application. I'd love to join the Turkish class, husband is reluctant and is happy to let me do all the talking in Turkey although this year I did notice him trying a bit. I'm a million light years from being much good, I don't get enough chances to use it but get by and enjoy having a go. I also love the reaction from Turkish people when I do have a go. They are always so amazed and pleased. I had weekly lessons for 4 years but now my teacher has moved so I'm not likely to be speaking it at all until I return for a couple of weeks in March. Oh for those who are wondering mutlu = happy.

Yes the Turkish people always love you to have a go at their language. As a nation I think we are sometimes a bit lazy as a lot of nationalities are fluent in English and we all expect them to speak our language. To be honest I think it enriches your holiday The only thing we have found is that when you speak the mearest smattering, they think you are fluent and come out with a string of Turkish and you are left standing there like a right dork. They just love us having a crack at it though and I think everyone should have a go out of respect for them. They are more than eager to teach you but they have a right good sense of humour and may tell you the wrong words sometimes, as we have found to our cost When I repeated something to a Turkish waiter which actually meant " ey up mate, my bottom is very sore"!!! Embarrassing or what. I think I should have put this under the thread for funny Turkish tales. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
