Me and She after seven trips to turkey finally go to ephesus.....we stayed in icmeler (Pinewood) and hired and jeep and drove up, v.exciting. it was 3pm when we got there and decided the best thing to do was a quick visit to Maryamanna, and then a recci to find out how much ephesus was and what time it opened,we were told by several locals that it would be coc a blok with people from the crusie ships the next day so a late afternoon visit would be a good idea, we declined the offer of a visit to the carpet/leather jacket shop owned by the car park owner's brother. Unfortuantely the audio tour shop was closed so we haggled with a tour guide and for £15 we would get an hours personal guide. He was brilliant and very funny and very informative, although I did teach he a thing or two....
He now knows "knocking shop" is what we call brothels (he wrote it don for future use) and when he was showing us Hadrian's gate when my girlfirend was out of earshot he whispers in my ear "Steve, you know he was as a Gay" and I said "Was he the only Gay in the Ephesus then" which he didnt get but, I thought was funny.
The other bit was becasue it was late nad because our car was parked at the top otopark, once we got to the bottom gate we had to turn back and walk thru, well iot was completley deserted, sun going down, very quiet, very very eary.........very special moment, goosebumops and shiver down the spine, I swear you could hear the voices form Roman and Hellenic times C:\Documents and Settings\faraghers\Desktop\turkey 2005 3\sf201.jpg[/img]
