Poor little insects, they always get a bad press! The only annoying things to watch out for are mossies, but a little spray (the brand name 'off') is a good one, should keep them away.

Grrr, mossies LOVE me!! Always smother myself in Walkabout lotion, that seems to keep the little buggers at arm's length

Lemon cologne is also quite useful for deterring insects, you can get a spray to keep in your fridge. Very refreshing!

A good cheap solution (and highly recommended by many friends) to keep the little blighters off is Skin So Soft from Avon in the Woodland Fresh fragrance. Actually I think they have just changed the name of the fragrance but it is the green one I use OFF whenever I am in Turkey and it has worked for me everytime. This year I suffered just two bites and it was because I had forgotten to spray

If you go visit a doctor they will tell you that you need this, that and the other (Typhoid, Hep B and all your usual boosters). Frankly though I haven't bothered in the 12 years I have been going and I haven't had any problems. I think you are more at risk if you travel close to the Syrian border, but if you are planning Olu Deniz, Marmaris et al then you should be more than alright.

You don't need injections for the coastal resorts of Turkey,I can't answer for the rest of the country.

My gran swears by it for repelling mossies. never tried it myself. Might have a go

We find in Icmeler in September, that the mozzies are not much of a problem really,it's the b****y wasps.I was recommended by a fellow holiday maker last year,to use 100% deet spray. She used it,and the wasps didn't bother her at all, were as,they were all over us.Apparantley,Asda do one called Bens??.I for one will purchasing some of that!

The mossies love me too, I've found that a product called "Mosquito Milk" by SEARLE is good and for other flying insects european and tropical, it is a roll on and lasts up to 8 hours. It says total coverage is not necessary just apply several stripes to the exposed area. You can email sales@bioconceptes.co.uk for more info.

You are lucky Julie Didn't notice any difference in Chalis to be honest Bob, but then the more you get bitten the more cautious you are and protect yourself more don't you think

That say that parts of the area are below sea level and marshy and that is the reason.
