Hi my name is Cal
35 yr old male
I have had enough of the uk and decided a few months ago to move abroad, At first i was attracted to Bulgaria because of low house prices etc, then i looked at Spain and now it`s Turkey.
I intend to visit Turkey within the next 2 weeks to look around , i am well travelled lived in Australia and visited all surrounding areas etc.
I do fully own my house worth £110,000 here in the uk and i went the other day to the bank and managed to get a loan on the house for £27k so with savings i intend to spend around £25-35k on a small property.
I have 4 cats (1 very old 18yrs old) and 2 which are 3yrs old and a 11yr old dog.
I have been surfing the net since 94 and i build computers for friends, i am into music and satellite tv (not sky)
I am very handy and can do pretty much anything from painting to bricklaying to plumbing etc
I am a diabetic and i do now suffer with keratoconus of the eyes so i have good days and bad days.
Reason for wanting to move from the uk...
Fed up of the "me me me" attitude of people and the growing racism aspect, why cant we all just get along?
Currently sharing my house with me is my 75yr old nan when i my grandad died i had her moving in with me and we get on fantastically so she will be moving with me to Turkey etc.
I have never visited Turkey before but what i have read here and on other sites has 90% made my mind up for me.
I dont know what areas i will be looking at but suggestions will be as always greatfully recieved and taken on board.

Hiya Cal, welcome to the Forum.
It's so good to hear that you want to move out of the UK and are thinking of moving to Turkey, it's a wonderful place and they are fab people, I don't think you will have any regrets if you do move there. I have travelled to Turkey at least 8 times over a period of 14 years with breaks in between when we tried Greece.
Last year we found Calis Beach and are going back in 2 weeks, it's a lovely place.
Good Luck with your search Cal.

Hi Cal, welcome and good luck with your proposed move. You didn't say what kind of property you were looking for. Property prices in Turkey have risen quite a bit in the last 12 months. You may need to revise your figures a bit. You would probably get an apartment with your budget but in most areas you wouldn't get a house. Are you keeping a house in the UK? There are lots of lovely places to live so you'll have fun looking.

Thanks all for the welcome...people in my family were shocked when i said Turkey they were expecting me to say Aus...but Turkey sounds a fantastic place and looks a great place as well from what i have seen.
I know £30k isnt that much but thats all i can get at the moment.
But this house will soon be up for sale so maybe i could go more expensive but i am sure i will be happy wherever i live, because life is too short to be anything else...and im easily pleased.
I was talking to a friend about it yesterday and he asked is there adsl in Turkey to which i said....dont know so if anyone could fill me in on this i would be greatful etc.

Hi Cal if you are easily pleased you will find something. You'll definately find a flat in some areas and if you don't mind a bit of DIY you might find a small house. Turkey is a lovely place and the good weather could be good for your health and also the fantastic food. I am border line type 2 diabetic and have asthma and I always feel so much better in Turkey. It is so easy to follow a healthy diet and I get so much more excercise there - swimming and walking. This is a thought for you. My sisiter in law is out there at the moment and it has gone through her head to rent out her UK flat. It would give her enough income to rent a place there and live without the need for a job. It also means that she'd still have something to come back to in years to come.

Hi Cal, Nice to hear you are going out to Altinkum on Friday, I hope you find what you are looking for and enjoy your break. Funny how your Asthma doesn't bother you when your in another climate, my son has had it from 9 months old chronically, he is 34 and when ever he has gone abroad anywhere he doesn't have any trouble with it.
