Re: Gocek Tunnel :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The contracting TUBIN firm has encountered a “soft floor” which carries the risk of postponing the opening of the tunnel for 10 months. So far 150 metres from the entrance at Dalaman and 260 metres from the entrance of Fethiye have been opened up. I was so looking forward to driving through it in June. Don't think the weather has helped.

Governor inspects work on location Mustafa Temel Koçaklar, who was recently appointed as the Governor of Mugla, came to our town to inspect work currently being carried out in Fethiye.
Governor Koçaklar first inspected the Göcek Tunnel presently under construction and made the following remarks: “I believe that this tunnel will save time on the Mugla-Fethiye highway and also ease the traffic to a great extent.” Koçaklar then attended the Fethiye Cultural Festivities, saying: “I have witnessed how developed Fethiye is not only in tourism but also in the fields of culture and arts. I am convinced that we shall establish many favourable deeds for Mugla and Fethiye. Such organizations are proof that a nation values art greatly and I have seen art and artists are of great significance here. It is really very heartening to see such crowds attending an organization like this.”
The Governor then went on to inspect the road construction on the way to Ölüdeniz. There Governor Koçaklar made the following statement: “Ölüdeniz is renowned not only in our country but also in many other countries. Tourists from abroad, as well as local visitors will have a more comfortable journey on the new road. God willing, both constructions will be finished on time for the forthcoming tourist season
