:)Hi, I have found most of the places I have been to in Turkey good - Marmaris, Bodrum, Gumbet- but my last vist to Calis Beach was by far the best, it is fairly quiet and laid back and not over commercialised, I booked a private villa with a communial pool, it was wonderful and had everthing we needed to enjoy our stay there. Regards JJ As this is a newish forum, and dedicated to all Turkish Resorts, I am interested to hear from Forum members, and there favorite destinations ;D

Definitely the best place I have found in Turkey is Koycegiz, and that is why I chose to live here. It is a normal working Turkish town with just a little bit of Tourism. Koycegiz is about 25 minutes from Dalaman airport and roughly half way between Fethiye and Marmaris. It is situated on a beautiful large lake and surrounded by the most spectacular mountain views. We have a few hotels here, but none of the British holidays companies come here, we have many bars and some restaurants, but these are Turkish - no English pubs or karaoke here. We have a delightful market every Monday throughout the year, which sprawls through the pretty streets leading down to the square. There is about 2 kms of promenade along the lakeside leading from the woodland to the beach. And as Koycegiz is a protection area, we have no high buildings, no complexes with houses and shared pools. Another reason I chose to live here is that property is so cheap still, my friends house is for sale fully furnished at just under 35k. Hope I've got some of your tastebuds going. Sarah

My favourite places are Hisaronu and Fethiye, Hisaronu for when I want to party with my friends and Fethiye for when I want to chill out. I also love walking around the ruins of Kayakoy and the ancient sites in Fethiye. I find Olu Deniz very beautiful, but I'm not one to sunbathe.

Hi March Hair
Turunc just along from Icmeler is nice and quiet; or there's Ciflik and Kumlubuk where there's not much at all .... seems popular with Turkish people for lazing on the beach too!

Yes Turunc is unspoilt I believe and Calis is not over commercialised although there are quite a few property shops now. Olu Deniz is very beautiful but has become more busy over the years but I suppose that is inevitable. The beach bars -yes they are actually on the beach- are lovely at night as you sit on the sand and watch the sea roll in and out with a glass of efes or raki in your hand. Icmeler is nice, the canal area very pretty, although I don't think it's exactly quiet, unless you are comparing it to Marmaris which is like Blackpool on speed! It just depands what you like I suppose. Have a gud holiday wherever you choose. Gule shous

I fell in love with Olu Deniz about 10 years ago. It has grown a lot since then, so I don't stay there all the time, I like it quieter. Still have to stay a night there though. Feels so much like home from home. Have stayed in Kalkan, Kas and Cirali and Olympos too. Become very fond of Kas. Will be spending first 2 nights in Dalyan this year. We rent a jeep, so will definitely visit Koygekiz. It sounds like just the sort of place I will like.

Best place for me is Datca. Its about 50 mins over the mountains from Marmaris and even after visiting for 14 years it still takes my breath away. If Marmaris is on speed, Datca is on tranquilisers. There is a lovely harbour where you can spot the celebs coming in for a bit of peace and quiet. Enough shops and bars to keep me happy (not many), 3 discos to keep the teenagers happy, some great restaurants, blue flag beaches mostly empty, very few european tourists, stunning mountain scenery and the cutest goats you have ever seen. If any of you are staying around marmaris, hop on a bus or hire a car and come on over.

I would think it's about 2 hours from Dalyan, well its 2 hours from Dalaman. Oh Bulent the road is OK, I've been on worse. We've done it loads of times and never been sick. From Marmaris onwards it's through mountains and the scenery is breathtaking. At one point you can see the med and the agean. It used to be quite scary but in the last few years they have widened it and cut off a few bends. Do it at night in moonlight and it's amazing, wild donkeys trot along beside you!!
